Some love stories begin with a meet cute. This one began with butter, homemade toffee, and what can only be described as a completely unreasonable amount of chocolate. In 2023, I started baking what was supposed to be “just a cookie.” Casual. Low stakes. Nothing serious. Unfortunately, the cookie had other plans. Batch after batch, tweak after tweak, it slowly became the kind of thing people would text me about at random hours of the day. Friends, family, and strangers started requesting them for birthdays, celebrations, bad days, good days, and honestly… sometimes just because it was Tuesday. Somewhere along the way, things escalated. There were dramatic reactions. Voicemails. Marriage proposals. Threats to fight over the last cookie. I lost count of how many batches were made somewhere between “this recipe is pretty good” and “you legally need to start selling these.” And honestly? They were right. The cookie itself is everything I love about baking, homemade toffee folded into rich dough, pools of the finest chocolate, crisp edges, soft centers, and flaky sea salt on top because balance is important, even when we’re being emotionally unstable over dessert. Then in 2025, the cookie ended up on TikTok. Which somehow turned into thousands of views, messages, reposts, and a shocking amount of peer pressure to officially get my cottage baker’s license. So… here we are. Truly Sweet Co. was built from late-night baking sessions, a slightly obsessive attention to detail, and a community of people who hyped this cookie up long before there was ever a website attached to it.
